At our last meeting -

Membership Night - Kate Pryde & Membership Committee
Kate and the others on the Membership Committee introduced us all to Rotary again. We had a great fun lesson in  how little we really know about Rotary (would we have got many correct answers without the excellent resource material?)
See Presidents Message below.

Club Directors are invited to submit information for publishing in the bulletin. Please try and meet the deadline of Thursday night for publishing in the bulletin for the following Tuesday's meeting. Early arriving material, and information by email would be much appreciated. MS Word attachments are OK and make it easy to compile the e-letter.
All members are invited to make comments, suggestions and contributions.
Happy Birthday

If its YOUR birthday...and  its not on the list SORRY!
Please let me know so you don't miss out next year.
From President Rhys:
Congratulations to Kate, Suzi, Carolyn and Chris for their outstanding presentation at last Tuesday’s meeting.  Those of you who weren’t there really missed one of the events of the year.  We should all recognise the significant effort that went into developing the evening, particularly the questionaire, and I believe that everybody would agree that it was time well spent.  To those of you who weren’t there, you missed one of the great nights of the year.  And what is more, I believe that everybody who was there learnt something on the night.  All in all a great concept and one that we should look at developing for other club fora during the year.

It was my pleasure the same night to induct John McGuiness.  John comes to us from the Rotary Club of Sandy Bay in Tasmania and has joined with a classification of Insurance – Workers Compensation.  He has been appointed to the membership committee.  Great to see Lynette, John’s wife there on the night to see him being inducted.

September is Youth / New Generation month and we will be developing a theme for one of the dinner meetings during the month to focus on relevant issues.  We look forward to what you’re able to dream up for us Wendy!

Thanks too to Kathryn and, latterly, Kate, for organising the Yum Cha last Sunday.  Though the numbers where not as good as been expected, particularly since this was the top priority for everybody’s selection for fellowship activities, those who attended had a great time and enjoyed good food and good fellowship.  Since we are such a geographically diversified group in terms of where we live, I believe it important that we support fellowship activities as much as possible since we do not bump into each other during the course of our day to day employment.  Hopefully the next function that Kathryn organises will get better support from Club members.

Please don’t forget, any Rotarian is invited to any Board meeting.  The next one will be held on Tuesday 5th September, 2000 starting at 5:00 pm and continuing after the regular Club meeting.  This board meeting will be held at Phillip Archer’s office which is within easy walking distance of the Casino.  This is your opportunity to learn more about the day to day workings of Rotary and I urge all interested members to try and attend.

Do YOU enjoy Rotary??
Why be selfish and keep the enjoyment to yourself? Invite a friend, business colleage or acquaintance to one of our meetings. You know they will be made to feel very welcome - and our Guest Speakers are always informative and fun. We should be very proud of our club and of Rotary in general, and be pleased to share it with others. And that's a sure way to grow our membership list too....some visitors may just be interested enough to consider taking another look.
It's a challenge for each of us!
